Welcome to The Johnson Academy of Therapeutic Learning

The Johnson Academy is the only school in South Orange County dedicated to offering a California State Standards curriculum in tandem with evidence-based reading, auditory, and language-based therapies. The Johnson Academy serves students with various language-based learning disabilities such as dyslexia by offering individualized interventions as well as a curriculum that is delivered in a small environment by highly trained teachers. The Johnson Academy staff receives top-quality professional development which enables them to use proven and effective teaching methods in the subjects and grade levels they teach, so they can enhance and accelerate their students’ progress.

The Johnson Academy is a warm and friendly environment whose mission is to serve the children and parents of South Orange County by offering evidence-based interventions as a part of each students’ academic day. As part of our mission, we also build educators’ awareness of language-based learning disabilities such as dyslexia as well as offer suggestions to curriculum and classroom modifications.

Why The Johnson Academy Works

We implement evidence-based interventions

We specialize in remediating language-based learning disabilities such as dyslexia (reading disorder), dyscalculia (math disorder), and dysgraphia (a disorder of written expression).

  • Has your child been labeled as “lazy?”

Contact Us

Our first step is to perform an assessment to determine your child’s needs.

The Johnson Academy offers a comprehensive assessment battery consisting of diagnostic tests designed to identify your child’s strengths and weaknesses. An assessment establishes baselines in areas such as reading rate, reading accuracy, reading comprehension, spelling, mathematics and written expression. This allows for comparisons to be made to current levels of abilities in numerous areas. The clinician will then be able to determine if there is a language based learning disability such as dyslexia (reading disorder) dysgraphia (disorder of written expression), dyscalculia (disorder of mathematics), phonological disorder, or language disorder.

Contact us today to learn more about our programs or to set up a time for your student to take an assessment. Once the assessment is completed, we can chart a course for teaching and improve your student’s learning.
